We are Adopting Preventive Strategy to Tackle Insecurity – Kogi Govt.

The Kogi State Government says it is adopting a preventive strategy to tackle the resurgence of insecurity in parts of the State.

The State Security Adviser, Retired Commander Jerry Omodara stated this while speaking on this week’s edition of “State of Kogi,” a Radio Kogi audience participatory programme.

A preventive strategy in security palance is a proactive approach designed to eliminate risks, mitigate vulnerabilities, and block unauthorized access or threats before they can cause harm.

This the Security Adviser noted has been adopted through strategic deployment of Security Personnel including Kogi Vigilante Service as well as Local Hunters.

According to him, as part of moves to complement the ongoing effort of government and Security Agencies in nipping crimes in the bud, about five hundred forest guards are billed to commence training in the State.

The Forest guards he noted will be provided with sophisticated weapons to guard the Forest from being used for Criminal activities.

Commander Omodara explained that while the State has been using the neighbourhood watch to fight crimes and Criminality, the National Assembly must expedite action on the providing legal framework for State Policy.

The Security Adviser maintained that the State is ready for State policing as the State is the second to submit Memorandum of Understanding to the Federal Government.

On the attack on Ikoyi Community in Ijumu Local Government Area, Commander Omodara noted that while the attack was foiled, security agents have been mandadate to go after the assailants.

He cautioned the people of the State against flaunting the directive of the Government on avoiding public gathering beyond four PM.

He reiterated the commitment of the State Government to protecting lives and property, urging the people to assist Security Agencies with credible information.

While a Caller, Mohammed from Bassa Local Government appealed for the reinstatement of sacked officers of Vigilante Service, Mr. Anyimode from Lokoja commended the Security Agencies for doing a great job and urged them to do more.
