The caretaker chairman of Mopamuro LGA, Hon Ademola Bello Destiny in his usual regard for peace, security and tranquility in the Local Government has summoned a meeting of all security agents, traditional rulers, landowners and other stakeholders on way forward and possible solutions to farmers/herders crisis in the area.
Hon Ademola Bello Destiny frowned at the rate upon which land owners release land to Fulanis and Bororos in the area without proper monitoring there by leading to pockets of violence among the farmers and herders in the area and advised land owners to desist henceforth.
The council boss informed members at the council secretariat that illegal miners in Mopamuro LGA will be shown the way out warning that the law is there to deal severely with illegal miners.
Hon Ademola Bello Destiny appealed to traditional rulers present at the security meeting to report strange faces within their domain.
He maintained that the incessant influx of immigrants in the area is worrisome and urgent measures are needed to curb the menace of illegal miners and immigrants.
The caretaker chairman commended the Governor of Kogi State Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for giving security a top priority in his administration and assured them of total support to deliver on the mandate.
He said Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has released five operational vehicles and two motorcycle for security agents in the area in order to ensure that people sleep with their two eyes closed.
The Divisional police officer (DPO) in the area Mr Moses Bamidele Joseph commended the caretaker chairman for his proactiveness in terms of security.
He appreciated Hon Ademola Bello Destiny for operating an open door policy and called on members present to give useful security information to the police.
The DPO warned scrap dealers of going about people houses to steal all in name of buying iron condemn.
He also appealed to the chairman for operational vehicles to enhance their effectiveness for maximum productivity.
The Alamuro of Amuro land who doubles as the acting chairman of Mopamuro traditional council HRM OBA Alfred Aiyedogbon Modupe praised the caretaker chairman for his untiring efforts in ensuring that the people of Mopamuro LGA go to sleep with their two eyes closed.
He however appeal to the chairman to look into the porous boarders and appeal to land owners to desist henceforth from indiscriminate issuance of land to immigrants in the area.
The Balogun of Mopa land and the former acting governor of kogi state Chief Clearance Olafemi who was part of the meeting commended the caretaker chairman Hon Ademola Bello Destiny for doing his best.
He said security is everybody business and called on all to give useful security information to security agents.
He frowned at rumor mongering and assured members present of his readiness and total support to the chairman and the government of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.
In her remark, the Director of Local Government Administration and Head of Service ( DLG/HOS) in the area, Mrs Job Elizabeth commend the council boss for being a security expert.
Highlights of the meeting was the presentation of security operational vehicles and motorcycles by the chairman to the vigilance groups.
