The Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, North-Central Zone, has conferred its Leadership Legacy Award on the Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka.
The award was presented at the zonal meeting of the union held in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Presenting the award, the National Vice-President of the zone, Comrade Murtala Seid Olayinka, said the honour was in recognition of Edoka’s commitment and support for the zone as well as his efforts at enhancing unity among members.
Olayinka said Edoka had continued to support the union even after leaving active service, describing such commitment as rare.
He described the Special Adviser as a worthy ambassador of the union and assured that its leadership would continue to recognise excellence in service delivery.
“We are in touch with our people; we know all that is going on in Kogi State and we are happy to note that the industrial harmony being witnessed in the state is the handiwork of Comrade Onuh Edoka. We are proud that he is doing well, so we have to offer him this award for his consistent support to the union,” he said.
Receiving the award on behalf of Comrade Edoka, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in Kogi State and Chairman of MHWUN in the state, Comrade Amari Gabriel, said the award was a greater call to service.

In his response, Comrade Edoka thanked the leadership of the union for the honour, saying it was in his character to add value to people and organisations he served.
He dedicated the award to the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo whom he said had created the enabling environment for his office to function efficiently.
