The Onu of Igbologu Emewe in Biraidu District, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, Ajofe Matthew Daikwo, was on Saturday full of joy as his son, Prince Ugbede-Ojo Justine Daikwo, wedded his heartthrob, Blessing Ojochogu Omajagwu, in a grand ceremony in Lokoja.
The wedding solemnisation, which held amid pomp and pageantry, drew traditional rulers, politicians, clerics and other dignitaries from within and outside the state.
Delivering a sermon at the event, a religious leader and Pastor of the Christian Evangelical Fellowship of Nations, CEFN, Gadumo, Lokoja, Pastor Okpanachi Oyibo, urged the couple to build their home on God’s model of marriage.
He said marriage was a divine institution that must be honoured and respected, adding that obedience to biblical injunctions was key to a successful marital life.
“Marriage is ordained by God. For it to succeed, couples must embrace love, tolerance, and allow God to take centre stage in their home,” Oyibo said.
He prayed that God would bless the union and make it fruitful.
Speaking at the reception, the Chairman of the occasion and Chairman of Monitex Hotels, Anyigba, Mr Silas Ahiaba, admonished the newlyweds to see their union as God-ordained.
“Only God can perfect your imperfections. Walk with God and put Him first in all things,” Ahiaba said.
In his remarks, the groom’s father, Ajofe Daikwo, thanked God for the successful event and expressed appreciation to guests for identifying with the family.
He particularly acknowledged the Attah Igala and President of the Kogi State Council of Chiefs, the Chairman of the occasion and his wife, the member representing Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Gowon Haruna, Dr James Nda Abalaka from Abuja, Deacon and Mrs Matthew Salifu, and other traditional rulers who graced the occasion.
The event featured music, dance and prayers for the new couple.
