A cleric, Pastor Mayowa Atteh of the Message of the Cross Ministry, MCM, Headquarters, Lokoja, has charged children and parents to embrace uprightness and godliness as true children of light.
Pastor Atteh gave the charge on Sunday at the 2026 Children’s Day celebration organised by the MCM, Post Flood Housing Estate, Lokoja, Kogi State.
Speaking on the theme, “Children of the Light, Shining in a Dark World,” the cleric said standing for God remains the ultimate requirement for believers, adding that when a man stands for God, God will stand for him.
According to him, children must walk as children of light and allow the fruit of the Spirit to guide them, while shunning unfruitful works of darkness.
“The wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God. Children must shun disobedience to parents if they desire long life,” he said.
He urged children to make a deliberate resolve to stand for God, lamenting that the bane of Christendom is the dearth of believers who truly walk as children of light.
He listed envy, malice, anger and hatred as examples of ungodly conduct still found among Christians.
Pastor Atteh also admonished parents to sanctify themselves for the sake of their children.
“Parents should know the dividing line between light and darkness. They should be role models to their children, shun wickedness and refrain from ungodly acts,” he said.
He noted that there is an engine room of shining which is powered by God, urging both parents and children to feed more on the word of God.
“Jesus Christ is the atonement for sin. He is ready to reconcile you to God. God is not willing to condemn anyone, but to forgive through reconciliation,” he added.
In his remarks, the Resident Pastor of the estate, Pastor Enejo Atuluku, said the celebration was to honour children who are God’s heritage.
Atuluku congratulated the children on the successful celebration and prayed for God’s abundant blessings upon them.
Highlights of the event included special prayers for the children, song renditions and dance presentations.
