Bassa LG Workers Declare Support For Ododo, Tinubu

Workers in Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State have declared their support for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and President Bola Tinubu ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The workers made their position known on Monday when the Workplace Security Campaign Team led by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka, visited the council.

Speaking at Oguma, headquarters of the local government, the Chairman of the council, Mr Theophilus Danruwana Adama, said the governor had performed well to deserve re-election.

Adama said workers had fared well under the current administration, adding that the sensitisation campaign was a call to greater service ahead of the elections.

He commended the team for extending the campaign to the local government areas and expressed optimism that the All Progressives Congress and its candidates would record a landslide victory.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union in the area, Comrade Adamu Amodu, who spoke on behalf of other unions, listed the achievements of the governor since assumption of office, saying workers were resolute in their decision to return him for a second term.

He, however, appealed to the Special Adviser to help address challenges facing workers in the area to further solidify their support.

In his remarks, the Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka said the sensitisation was critical in view of the need to ensure a secured workplace.

He urged the workers to be security conscious at all times, noting that job security is essential to their well-being.

Edoka assured them that the government was already looking into the challenges raised and thanked the council chairman for being present during the visit.

Present at the visit were the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress in the state, Mr Gabriel Amari, his Trade Union Congress counterpart, Mr Sule Ahmed Tijani, the Joint Negotiating Council Chairman, Mr Olusegun Alemeru, and other political office holders.
