The Chairman of Bassa Local Government Area of Kogi State, Theophilus Daruwana Adama, has commended the people of Ochipu community in Akuba II for their calm and patience following the attack on their community.
Adama gave the commendation on Thursday when visited the community in preparation for their return after months of displacement.
The visit was to enable residents to clear the surroundings and put their houses in order ahead of their safe return.
Adama, who was represented by his Security Adviser, DSP Daniel Shigaba (retired), assured the community of his administration’s readiness to facilitate their resettlement, assuring that adequate security arrangements would be put in place in synergy with security agencies to ensure they return and resume their normal daily activities.
He said his administration would continue to align with the security agenda of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to ensure the protection of lives and property of all residents of Bassa LGA.
Also speaking, the Supervisor for Works and Housing, Bassa LGA, Elder Aaron Ali, who was part of the delegation, appreciated the chairman for his continued support to the community. He also commended the people of Ochipu for being law-abiding.

Community stakeholders, including youths and women leaders, appreciated the chairman for the visit, describing it as a sign of hope for their imminent return home.
