PDP Chieftain, Mokikan, 200 Supporters Dump Party for APC in Kogi

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi West, Otunba Kingsley Mokikan and over two hundred of his supporters have dumped the main opposition party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Otunba Mokikan and his supporters were received by the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Mrs. Folashade Ayoade and other top government functionaries from Bunu District at his ward, Aiyetoro Kiri, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area.

The SGS, while speaking at the ceremony, described the coming of Otunba Mokikan, a long time loyalist of the PDP Governorship Candidate in the last Gubernatorial Election, Dino Melaye as a good step towards developing the State together.

Mrs. Ayoade, who assured the defectors that they will not regret their actions, urged the Ward and Local Government Executives to receive them wholeheartedly.

According to her, the doors of the ruling party are open to anyone or group that is ready to contribute to the progress of the Party and the State.

The SGS while paying glowing tributes to appointees of former Governor Yahaya Bello and Current Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo from Bunu land who have contributed immensely to the success stories of the APC led government in the State.

On his part, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of APC, Hon. Duro Meseko, described Otunba Mokikan as a grassroots mobilizer, expressing delight over his defection to the party.

He used the occasion to express satisfaction with appointees from Bunu land for making the district proud in the task of providing democracy dividends to Okun people.

Responding, Otunba Kingsley Mokikan stated that his coming to APC was based on his passion to unite the party for greater performance, saying he is ready to better the lot of the party in the Community, Kabba-Bunu, Kogi and Nigeria in general.

Otunba Mokikan was elated by the reception accorded him by Party leadership as well as political office holders from Bunu and Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area.
