The State Executive Council of Organised Labour in Kogi State has passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, over what it described as his impressive performance in office.
The council, at its meeting on Wednesday at the Comrade Onuh Edoka Labour House, Lokoja, said the governor had demonstrated humane leadership, passion for governance and special attention to workers’ welfare.
According to the labour leaders, the governor has continued to show capacity in governance, doing things differently and positively to the admiration of all.
The SEC-in-session described Governor Ododo as a leader with milk of human kindness, noting that organised labour had no option but to support his aspiration for a second term in office.
It commended the governor for the donation of three buses to organised labour, his promise to embark on massive recruitment and promotions, among other gestures, as examples of sterling leadership.
“We are happy that we have Governor Ododo as our governor; he is God-sent and we, as labour leaders, are delighted that he has not disappointed us, judging by his welfare programmes and policies concerning workers,” the council said in a statement.
Speaking separately, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Gabriel Amari; his Trade Union Congress counterpart, Sule Tijani Ahmed; and the Chairman of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council, Comrade Olusegun Alemeru, extolled the virtues of the governor and pledged support for his re-election.
Speaker after speaker at the session commended the administration for its efforts in human and infrastructural development and appealed to the governor to address other critical areas of workers’ needs.
The SEC-in-session also acknowledged the contributions of the Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka, whose ideas and innovations, it said, had helped to shape the administration’s governance style as it relates to workers.
