The outgoing Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, has said integrity, commitment and dedication to duty remain the foundation of effective public service.
Oloyede spoke on Wednesday in Abuja after receiving an Award of Excellence and Distinguished Service from the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, JAMB Branch.
He said he maintained neutrality in union affairs throughout his 10-year tenure, adding that he never interfered in the election of labour leaders but only worked with those who emerged democratically.
The outgoing Registrar said improving staff welfare was a major priority of his administration, recalling that he secured a 15 per cent examination duty and incentive allowance for workers, among other packages.
He commended the Federal Government for reforms that have ensured prompt payment of retirement benefits, saying this had restored workers’ confidence in the pension system.
Oloyede dedicated the award to the collective efforts of management and staff, insisting that no leader succeeds without workers’ support.
Earlier, the NASU JAMB Branch Chairman, Comrade Andrew Onakpa, described Oloyede’s tenure as transformative, listing achievements such as the expansion of the Board’s directorates from eight to 30, construction of its new headquarters, and the introduction of a staff canteen.
The union congratulated the incoming Registrar, Professor Segun Aina, and expressed confidence that he would sustain the legacy of the outgoing administration.
