Kogi State Government says only genuine farmers will benefit from the ongoing distribution of fertiliser.
The Managing Director of the State Agricultural Development Project (ADP), Dr. George Ogirima Bello made this known while speaking on this week’s edition of State of Kogi, a Radio Kogi Audience Participatory Programme.
Last Friday, the distribution of fertiliser to over three thousand farmers in Kogi State commenced with Idah Federal Constituency and the exercise is currently ongoing.
The ADP Managing Director said in line with the directive of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, a farmer friendly Governor, only genuine farmers will get five bags each.
According to him, the present administration is committed to ensuring that farmers get what belongs to them to boost food security in the State.
Dr. Bello explained that the allocation of fifty percent of the fertilizer to farmers in Ibaji and Bassa Local Government Area was not political but to utilise the fertile land in such areas to boost food production.
He noted that ADP will continue to contribute to the Agriculture revolution of the present administration.
While fielding questions from callers on invasion and destruction of farmlands by cattle, the Managing Director stated that the government is using diplomatic methods to address the challenge.
Some callers, Monday Aaron from Ofu, Isah Isiaka from Kabba and Bello John from Okene applauded Governor Ododo for making efforts to improve farming in the State.
