The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for political parties to submit the names and particulars of their candidates for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly elections to midnight on Tuesday, July 14, 2026.

The extension was announced in a statement issued on Sunday by the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna.

The Commission noted that the deadline, originally scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026, was reviewed following an appeal by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) on behalf of political parties that experienced challenges in uploading their candidates’ details within the stipulated period.

According to INEC, the additional time reflects its commitment to conducting an inclusive electoral process while remaining within the provisions of the law.

The electoral body urged all political parties yet to complete the submission process to utilize the extension and ensure the successful upload of their candidates’ names and personal particulars before the new deadline expires.

INEC emphasized that no further extension should be expected after the expiration of the revised deadline.
