The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, Kogi State chapter, Comrade Sunday Emeje, has described the labour force as the most powerful unarmed army anywhere in the world.
Emeje said no force can defeat organised labour because of its unity and numerical strength, urging workers to remain united and committed to the ideals of the movement.
He spoke on Tuesday during a workplace security sensitisation programme held in Idah and Ibaji Local Government Areas of the state.
The ASUSS chairman commended the initiative of the Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka, and urged local government workers to propagate the achievements of Governor Ahmed Ododo’s administration, especially in the area of workers’ welfare.
“Comrade Edoka is a leader who sees into the future. This vision must translate into victory for the Governor and the President,” Emeje said, adding that workers have critical roles to play in any election.
He thanked Governor Ododo for recognising the importance of the workforce, as demonstrated by his approval of the sensitisation programme.
Also speaking, the ASUSS Chairman, Idah LGA, Comrade Joseph Ocheja, and the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers in Ibaji LGA, Comrade Iboyi Sunday Philip, lauded the governor for his exemplary leadership and worker-friendly policies.
The union leaders passed a vote of confidence on the governor and pledged to mobilise workers in their domains to support the re-election of Governor Ododo and President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
In their separate remarks, the Chairman of Idah LGA, Hon. Alfa Halilu, and the representative of the Chairman of Ibaji LGA, Mr Inekwe Enejo, who is the Director of Personnel Management, said the sensitisation exercise had made campaigns ahead of the elections easier.
They commended Edoka for his sincerity and credibility in leadership, noting that Governor Ododo remains the best option for the people.
Earlier, the leader of the team, Comrade Onuh Edoka, said the visit was to offer genuine advice on workplace and personal security.
Edoka, who gave security tips to the workers, urged them to take their job security seriously by ensuring the continuity of the Ododo and Tinubu administrations, which he said had done a lot to lift workers out of poverty.
He assured the workers that some of their demands were already receiving attention and urged them to prepare for a thank-you visit to the governor.
