Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has said the Forward Operating Base of the Nigerian Army in Iluke-Bunu in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area will be ready within the next three weeks.
The governor announced this on Thursday at the inauguration of the Bunu Divisional Police Station in Iluke-Bunu, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Ododo, who was represented by the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (retd), said the initiative was in line with his administration’s commitment to nipping criminal activities in the bud and flushing out criminals from Bunu land.
He announced the donation of four motorcycles to officers and men of the division to enhance community policing.
According to him, the combined efforts of his administration and security agencies have yielded positive results, as normalcy has returned to communities hitherto terrorised by bandits.
The governor noted that the feat must be sustained, expressing optimism that police and army personnel to be deployed to the district have the capacity to maintain peace and stability.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the improvement in security across the country, noting that his directive on the recruitment of police officers had led to the establishment of more police posts and divisions nationwide.
Governor Ododo also lauded the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olatunji Disu, for introducing reforms that are helping the country win the war against insecurity.
He appealed to sons and daughters of Bunu to support security agencies with timely and credible information to eliminate criminals in the area.
The governor added that the newly deployed forest guards to Bunu land would add value to the fight against insecurity, and solicited the support of residents of Bunu Kingdom.
He paid tribute to security expert, Professor Etanibi Alemika, for his love for Bunu land, describing him as a hero of the district.
