The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has said the growing political alignment in Kano State could strengthen President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s chances of securing re-election in 2027.

Barau made the declaration during the inauguration of campaign committees for Dawakin Tofa, Tofa and Rimin Gado Local Government Areas of Kano State, according to a statement issued on Sunday by his media aide, Ismail Mudashir.

He expressed confidence that the political permutations across the country, coupled with assessments by political analysts, favour Tinubu’s victory in the January 16, 2027 presidential election.

The Deputy Senate President urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to close ranks and intensify grassroots mobilisation to ensure victory for all the party’s candidates in the forthcoming general elections.

He attributed the growing political strength of the APC in Kano to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s decision to move from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the ruling party, describing the development as a strategic move that had enhanced the state’s political relevance and prospects of attracting federal development opportunities.

According to him, Kano, with one of the largest voting populations in the country and second only to Lagos in terms of registered voters, deserves greater attention from the Federal Government.

Barau said the alignment of the governor, local government chairmen, councillors, state legislators and members of the National Assembly under the APC had created a stronger political structure capable of delivering electoral victory and accelerating development in the state.

He also expressed appreciation to party leaders, elected representatives and other stakeholders for their support, noting that the unity within the party would be sustained ahead of the elections.

The lawmaker explained that the newly inaugurated campaign committees were designed to accommodate a broad range of stakeholders, including party executives, former and serving legislators, councillors, local government chairmen, new members and respected elders.

He charged the committee members to take ownership of the campaign by mobilising voters and ensuring that the APC secured victory across all elective positions.

“What is required of you is to play your part actively in securing victory. Mobilise, campaign and ensure that all APC candidates emerge victoriously from top to bottom. May Allah grant us success and enable us to achieve our goals,” he said.

Barau further expressed optimism that the foundation laid by the Tinubu administration during its first term would produce the desired political and developmental outcomes in a second term.

He said the forthcoming elections would provide an opportunity for elected representatives to deepen their contributions to the development of their respective constituencies.
