The Member representing Idah Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. David Zachariah has donated the sum of N5 million to the owner of the burnt rice mill to help alleviate the losses incurred.
He made the donation when he paid an unscheduled visit to Ega Market to assess the damage caused by gully erosion and a recent fire that razed a rice mill in the area.
Hon. Zachariah expressed concern over the devastating impact of the erosion and fire on the livelihoods of the market traders and the community at large and promised to take immediate action to address the situation.
Hon. Zachariah assured the people that he would utilize his position to attract the necessary intervention to the area.
The Chairman of Idah Local Government Council, Hon. Alhaji Alfa Halilu, had earlier appealed to stakeholders for assistance on behalf of his people.
The people of Ega and the surrounding community have been battling with the challenges of erosion and infrastructural decay, and Hon. Zachariah’s visit has brought hope to the area.
