Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has provided NPK and urea fertilizers to farmers across the state to boost agricultural production, improve crop yields and strengthen food security.
The intervention is expected to ease the financial burden on farmers amid rising costs of agricultural inputs and encourage increased cultivation across the state.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Timothy Ojomah, who commended the governor for the initiative, said the provision of the fertilizers was aimed at supporting farmers, enhancing productivity and increasing food production.
Ojomah urged beneficiaries to use the fertilizers strictly for farming purposes, warning against selling the inputs provided by the government.
He stressed that the intervention was designed to improve farm output and the livelihoods of farmers, adding that its success would depend on the proper utilisation of the fertilizers.
The commissioner encouraged farmers to take advantage of the support to expand cultivation and improve their yields, noting that increased agricultural production would contribute to food availability and economic development in the state.
He also reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector and creating an enabling environment for farmers to increase productivity.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Irewa Moses expressed appreciation to Governor Ododo for extending the support to farmers across Kogi State.
Moses said the fertilizers would help reduce production costs and enable farmers to cultivate their farms more effectively.
He appealed to the government to sustain the intervention, noting that continued access to agricultural inputs would encourage farmers to expand production and strengthen their contribution to the state’s food supply.
The beneficiaries, he assured, would put the fertilizers to proper use to achieve the objectives of the intervention.
The distribution is expected to support farming activities across Kogi State, with the broader objective of improving crop yields, increasing food supply and strengthening the agricultural sector.
