Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has reassured the people of the state of his administrations commitment to serve them better.
The Governor made this known while receiving jubilant supporters at the Government House, Lokoja.
As early as Eight o’clock in the early hour of Wednesdays 28th of August 2023 supporters and political appointees gathered at Jamata in Lokoja to welcome the State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo after the supreme Court affirmed his victory in the November Twenty twenty three off circle gubernatorial election.
The Governor on arrival paid homage to Ohimege Igu KotonKarfe, His Royal Highness Alhaji Salisu Akawu.
The Governor who was overwhelmed at the crowd that greeted him on arrival treked with them for some hours.
Market women also left their various spots of business to rejoice and welcome the governor to Government House.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd that gathered to celebrate his victory at the supreme Court in Abuja the Governor expressed his gratitude to the judiciary for withstanding what he described as threats and blackmail, ensuring that justice prevailed.
He emphasized that his victory was not just a personal triumph but a reflection of the will of the people of Kogi State.
Ododo called on opposition parties to unite with his administration to advance the state’s development.
He assured the people that his government will continue to work diligently to deliver the dividends of democracy, urging everyone to put aside their differences and focus on moving the State forward.
The Governor praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to the welfare of Nigerians and for ensuring that the judiciary remains the last hope of the common man and promised to support his programs and policies.
The State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress( APC) Abdullahi Bello congratulated the people of Kogi State for giving the Governor their mandate on trust and promised the support of the party in delivering good governance to the people.
He called on the Governor to pay more attention to the welfare of workers in view of their overwhelming support at the last gubernatorial election in the state.
While appreciating the former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello for laying a solid foundation the APC chairman urged the governor to do more.
Speaking on behalf of the Legislators the Deputy Speaker Kogi State House of Assembly Honourable Comfort Unwuchola pledged the unwavering support of all the Legislators to the success of his administration and congratulated the governor for his victory at the supreme Court.
She noted that women are happy for the victory at the supreme Court because the foundation of women inclusion in good governance has been laid.
