National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje has presented a Certificate of Return to the Senator representing Edo Central in the National Assembly, Monday Okpebholo as the Governorship candidate of the party in the September 21 election.
Ganduje, while presenting the certificate to the candidate, said the party is on the way to win the election having produced a sellable and refined candidate.
He therefore called on other aspirants to join hands and work with him to ensure the party’s victory in the State.
Senator Okpebholo polled 12,433 votes to defeat 11 other aspirants who contested the primary election.
“I am happy to tell you that as we directed, as we monitored, the Direct Primaries took place in 192 wards. We have the record, the results were collated in each local govt and the results are with us. The results were announced after collation. As a result, Senator Okpebholo scored the highest votes and therefore declared the winner.
In his acceptance speech, the candidate, Senator Okpebholo said his ambition to become the next Edo State governor was not based on tribal and ethnic inclinations, but to develop the state for the people.
Okpebholo while thanking the party stakeholders for believing in him also called for sue party wins the election.
He also thanked President Bola Tinubu for renewing the hope of party faithful by rendering quality leadership as well as the entire members of the National Working Committee (NWC) for their dedication and sincerity of purpose in the conduct of the primary election.
