Wife of Kogi State Governor Pledges Support To Fighting Against Drug Abuse

Wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Ahmed Usman Ododo says she is committed to fight against drug abuse in the society.

Hajia Sefinat Ododo stated this in a message during the International day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with a theme “The Evidence is clear,invest in strategies” at the Government House Lokoja.

Represented by the wife of the Deputy Governor Mrs Margaret EleOjo Salifu said the society is challenged by drug abuse leading to high rate of health issues and family breakdown.

The wife of the Governor Hajia Sefinat Ahmed Usman Ododo said machineries have been put in place to take the campaign to rural areas, families and schools across the state.

According to her, Mothers play important role in prevention of drug abuse through guidance, vigilance and impacting positive values in their children’s lives.

The Governor’s wife also announced the establishment of rehabilitation center in the state to provide treatment for those battling addiction along with skill acquisition center for Youths.

She added that prevention of drug abuse is a collective responsibilities stressing that education, awareness campaign and Community support  can reduce drug abuse and  addiction.
