The Kogi State Government has flagged off Human Papilloma Virus Vaccine Introduction, reiterating determination to improve health of citizen’s of the state.
Speaking in a message to the Flag at the Government House Lokoja, the Kogi State First lady, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo said cervical cancer is the second most common cancer affecting women in the world.
Represented by the wife of the state Deputy Governor, Mrs Magret EleOjo Salifu, the Kogi First Lady said “the cervical cancer disease caused by human papilloma Virus (HPV) is prevented through vaccination, stressing that all girls of ages nine to fourteen is sacrosanct for them to take the vaccine”.
She maintained that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has the political will to meeting the health need of the people and called on girls between the ages of nine to fourteen to turn out enmass to take the vaccine to avoid cervical cancer.
The Kogi State first lady commended Federal government, state Ministry of Health for their dedication in making this campaign a reality.
Earlier, the state SERICC, Mrs Khadija Garba said the vaccination will not only reduce number of cases of cervical cancer in the state but assist in achieving broader health development goal.
She said the state government embarked on important journey for the health of our daughters and future generations.
