The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Labour Matters for Kogi West, Comrade Ranti Ojo,PhD has called for unity among workers in the state to ensure job sustainability and improved welfare.
Ojo made the call on Wednesday when the Workplace Security Campaign team visited Yagba West and Yagba East Local Government Areas of the state.
Addressing workers at the council secretariats in Odo-Ere and Isanlu, Ojo said workers must critically assess the performance of the present administration to make informed decisions that will benefit them and their dependants.
He said the achievements of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo since assumption of office were clear indications that his administration prioritises the welfare of workers.
According to him, the security sensitisation campaign has two phases — personal security and job security — which must be taken seriously by workers.
Also speaking, the leader of the team and Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka, said the state government remains committed to workers’ welfare, citing the numerous achievements of the Ododo administration as evidence of responsive governance.
Edoka urged workers in the two LGAs to support the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Ododo to consolidate on the gains recorded so far.
In his remarks at Odo-Ere, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees in Yagba West, Comrade Olorunshola Helen Aduke, said workers in the area were happy with the present administration and passed a vote of confidence on the governor.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners in Yagba East, Comrade Moses Oyebode, commended the government for its worker-friendly policies and appealed for the payment of outstanding gratuities to alleviate the suffering of retirees.
The visits were marked by cultural performances.
