Workers in Ofu and Ajaokuta Local Government Areas of Kogi State have declared their support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
The workers stated this when the Workplace Security Campaign team visited their respective council secretariats.
They pledged to work to ensure the realisation of the campaign objectives.
At Ugwolawo, headquarters of Ofu Local Government Area, the Director of Local Government, Mrs Joy Audu, described the visit as timely.
Audu said the team led by Comrade Onuh Edoka was dependable and could not be taken for granted.
She described Edoka as a former labour leader with a track record of achievements, adding that the message of the team had been well received and would be acted upon at the appropriate time.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers in the local government, Comrade Ochidi Omale, said workers were grateful to Governor Ododo for prioritising their welfare.
Omale said the governor’s performance since assumption of office was a departure from the past.
Similarly, at Adogo, headquarters of Ajaokuta Local Government Area, jubilant workers turned out in large numbers to receive the team.
The Vice Chairman of the council, Hon. Zainab Salisu, expressed delight over the sensitisation, assuring that workers in the local government remained committed to the President and the governor.
Speaking on behalf of other industrial unions, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees in the local government, Comrade Abanika Seidu, declared total support for Tinubu and Ododo.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Comrade Onuh Edoka, sensitised the workers on the importance of workplace security, noting that security was critical to human existence.
Edoka urged the workers not to be deceived by desperate politicians and appealed to them to assess the current administration based on its attention to workers’ welfare.
He disclosed that workers would soon pay a thank-you visit to the governor in appreciation of his efforts, and urged them to demonstrate their appreciation by turning out en masse when the time comes.
