The Kogi State Government has approved bursary allowances for its indigenes studying in tertiary institutions across the country.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Monday Anyebe Aridaojo, disclosed this on Monday when he received the newly elected executive of the National Association of Kogi State Students in his office in Lokoja.
Aridaojo said approval for the payment had been secured and assured the students that disbursement would commence soon.
He said the administration of Governor Ahmed Ododo had recorded significant achievements in youth and sports development, adding that over 200 youths had benefited from entrepreneurship programmes and grants facilitated by the ministry.
The commissioner assured the NAKOSS leadership of the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with the association and support initiatives aimed at promoting the welfare and development of students and youths in the state.
He congratulated the new officials on their election and urged them to work for unity and progress of the association.
Earlier, NAKOSS President, Isiaka Usman Amoto, said the visit was to formally introduce the new executive to the commissioner and seek his support.
Amoto commended the commissioner for his commitment to youth development and pledged the association’s support for the Ododo administration.
