The All Progressives Congress (APC) has confirmed that the existing zoning arrangement for positions in its National Working Committee (NWC) will remain in place ahead of the party’s 2026 National Convention.
In a press statement issued in Abuja on Monday, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Felix Morka, said the decision was in line with the party’s published schedule of nationwide congresses, national convention and related activities.
According to him, the existing zoning arrangement for National Working Committee positions across states within the geo-political zones remains valid and applicable for the upcoming national convention.
Morka therefore advised all aspirants seeking national offices in the party to strictly adhere to the zoning arrangement while purchasing and submitting their Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.
He stressed that aspirants are expected to be guided by the existing zoning structure as preparations intensify for the convention.
The APC spokesman noted that the directive was aimed at ensuring orderliness and adherence to party guidelines during the nomination process.
The party’s national convention is expected to bring together delegates from across the country to elect members of the National Working Committee and deliberate on key party matters.
The clarification by the party leadership is also seen as a move to guide aspirants and prevent confusion regarding eligibility for various national offices.
Preparations for the convention are currently underway, with party members and stakeholders making consultations ahead of the exercise.
