Kogi State, Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has extended heartfelt condolences to the family of Late Alhaji Pa Asiru Ijagbemi, father of the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning Asiwaju Ashiru Idris describing him as a man of peace.
Governor Ododo made this known during the 8th Day Fidau prayers held in Isanlu
The solemn event, brought together family members, government officials, traditional rulers, and well-wishers from across the state and beyond, all gathered to pray for the peaceful repose of the late patriarch’s soul.
Governor Ododo described Alhaji Pa Asiru Ijagbemi as a devout Muslim, a man of integrity, and a community leader whose legacy of humility, discipline, and service to God will continue to inspire generations.
He urged the family and the people of Okun to emulate and build on the legacies he left behind saying his humility is an example for all to imbibe.
The governor expressed his believe that the commissioner of Finance will led the family to continue to live a life of legacies that his father lift behind
He further offered prayers for strength and comfort to the bereaved family, particularly the Honourable Commissioner, urging them to take solace in the impactful life their father lived.
On the issue of insecurity Governor Ododo reassured them of his administration’s commitment to tackle insecurity in the region
He also charged youths to avoid supplying foods to kidnappers in the bush and buying petrol for their generators in the bush. This he said could inadvertently support criminal activities.
Governor Ododo further advised that as the state approaches election time, the citizens should not be swayed by false promises, emphasizing the need for leaders to demonstrate their capabilities before declaring their intentions to contest.
He called on youths not allow themselves to be used as agents of destruction by selfish politicians
The Governor appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support, stressing that “Your presence is not required for campaigning in Kogi State; we will show our gratitude for what you have done for our state in other ways.” He concluded.
While speaking with News men the son of the dicease Mr Asiwanju Asiru Idris said his father lived a righteous life and he will be remembered for what he lived for which is peace.
The 8th Day Fidau prayer is a significant Islamic rite, offering prayers and remembrance for the deceased, and reaffirming faith in God’s mercy and eternal reward.
