58th Young African Journalists Training Session Commences in Cairo

The 58th training session for Young African Journalists organised by the Union of African Journalists (UAJ) in collaboration with the Supreme Council for Media Relation Egypt has commenced with a call on participants to be committed to promoting the African values.

The President of the Council, Mr. Karam Gabr, who declared the 3 weeks Training Session open, charged the participants to promote Media contents such as homosexualities and hate speech that are inimical to the values of the Continent.

According to Mr. Gabr, the training is to engage the participants on the modern Journalism practice such as Artificial Intelligence which he noted is the future of the Media.

He explained that the training, which focuses on the exchange of knowledge and skills in the field of media, will also take participants through the current challenges faced by African countries, the Middle East and the way forward.

In his remarks, Mr. Mahfouz Al-Ansari, President of the Union of African Journalists, who was represented explained that about 2000 young African Journalists have been trained, saying it has contributed to strengthening the professional capabilities of journalists from all countries in Africa.

Mr. Al-Ansari maintained that the training course is aimed at creating the links between journalists from different African countries and their Egyptian counterparts.

“One of the most important goals of our training courses is to create these links between journalists from different African countries and between them and Egyptian journalists, which enhances understanding and mutual awareness of the issues of our continent, what our continent are going through, and the political, economic, and development challenges we are facing.

He states that “the current session will be an opportunity to exchange experiences between our countries through the transfer of knowledge and communication with the most experienced trainers in the field of journalism, media and political work, etc., and through the field visits included in the course program.

The session is being attended by Journalists from Congo Brazzaville, Tanzania, Ghana, Kenya, Chad, Nigeria, Morocco and Egypt.
