Kogi State Government has expressed its readiness to the development of sporting activities in the state.
Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Monday Anyebe gave the assurance while receiving Chairman of Kogi United Football Club with some players, who were in his office to present the Cup won at the just concluded North Central Pre- Season Tournament.
Mr. Anyebe said under the administration of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo sporting activities would be given attention, saying plans are already on to remodel the Lokoja Confluence Stadium to international standard.
He said when this is achieved kogi united will not be going outside the state to play their a way matches, pointing out that the move will also boost the economy of the state.
The Commissioner charged the Club not to relent in their efforts by continue to do their best to make the State proud in the round leather game.
He congratulated the management and players of the Club for winning the North Central Pre- Season Tournament play d in Abuja and encouraged them to do more.
Speaking, the state Chairman of the Kogi United Football Club, Abdulmalik Isah said fourteen clubs across the north central participated in the tournament but kogi united came first.
Isah said the tournament is the first edition in the north central zone, saying this is the first kogi united win a trophy outside the state.
