Kogi State Command of the Police Community Relations Committee has elected new officials to fill vacant positions in the State Executive Council of the association.
The ceremony took place at the Police Headquarters in Lokoja.
Inaugurating the officials, the National Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee, Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan urged members to continue to display their competence in collaborating with the Police to improve their effectiveness in information and intelligence gathering to facilitate the discharge of their responsibility.
The PCRC National Chairman who was represented by the Zone 8 Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee Hajia Rabietu Okute described the services of PCRC as a selfless service to humanity to combat crime and criminalities in all neighbourhood to ensure a peaceful atmosphere.
Hajia Rabietu Okute who is also the State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs said her ministry will continue to contribute meaningfully to the development of the PCRC in the State, in view of the present security challenges bedeviling the society.
Hajia Rabietu noted with satisfaction the level of participation of members across the State Command and appealed to them to continue to render selfless services to their Community.
The Commissioner used the occasion to advised those living in the riverine areas to relocate to the higher ground to avoid being causalities of flood.
Some PCRC Area Command Chairmen who spoke at the meeting commended the State working Committee of the PCRC for doing a thorough job and urged them not to relent in their efforts to collaborate with all security agencies in the State.
Earlier, the State Chairman of the PCRC, Elder Aaron H. Ali enumerated some of the challenges faced by the Police Community Relations Committee to include lack of Office, Finances as well as mobility to carry out their duty effectively.
Elder Aaron H. Ali explained that the association has lined up catalogue of activities in the nearest future which include elections of Area Command and Divisional Executives and urged members to put their house in order for a smooth and peaceful atmosphere devoid of rancour.
The Chairman maintained that the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja recently discussed on a wide range of issues and how best to improve the welfare of the Nigerian Police Force and PCRC members.
