Kogi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with its State owned Tertiary Institutions for their inclusion in their students in the Health Insurance Scheme.
In a bid to cater for the health care of Students, the Kogi State Government through the State Health Insurance Agency has introduced the Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP).
The TISHIP programme is to ensure that every student of State owned higher institutions get access to good healthcare services, Protect students and families from Financial burden on medical bills.
Signing the MoU on behalf of the State Government, the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Mrs. Folashade Ayoade congratulated the Heads of Institutions on the milestone which according to her will reduce out of pocket expenses on health for students and staff.

Mrs. Ayoade expressed appreciation to the State Leader, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for establishing the Agency and commended the State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman for sustaining the legacies.
She advised the leadership of the Agency as well as the Tertiary schools to engage Student Union Bodies on the need to embrace the programme.
The SGS commended the Executive Secretary of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency for making the State proud with the programmes and activities of the Agency.
The Executive Secretary of KSHIA, Dr. Adekunle Aledare had earlier told the gathering that each Student is expected to pay two thousand naira only per session to access the healthcare services.
According to Dr. Aledare, over fifty thousand students will benefit from the health insurance programme in their respective School Clinics, Primary Health Care Centres, General and Tertiary Health institutions.
He pointed out that the TISHIP programme is a milestone in the process of providing universal health coverage, promising to enrol more people in the health insurance programme.
The Vice Chancellor, Prince Abubakar Audu University, Professor Marietu Tenuche and the Provost of Kogi State College of Education Technical Mopa, Mrs. Victoria Jagboro described the TISHIP programme as a welcome development, pledging their commitment to the Programme.
