KGSG To Upgrade 74 Health Centres As Executive Bill For Conversion Of Reference Hospital Okene To Teaching Hospital Is To Be Sent To Kogi Assembly

Kogi State Executive Council is to present an executive bill to provide for a law for the establishment of Confluence University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital.

This was the resolution of the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House Lokoja.

Briefing News Men after the
meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Evangelist Kingsley Fanwo said Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo while presiding over the meeting explained that the law establishing the Reference hospital Okene will be repealed and re-enacted for the conversion of the Reference Hospital Okene to Confluence University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital.

According to the Commissioner this will provide opportunity for the state to provide more Doctors to compliment the efforts of the state government in providing quality healthcare services to the people.

Also approved for presentation to the State House of Assembly is a bill for the establishment of Kogi State Emergency Management agencies to repeal the old one and reenact a new one that will be able to meet the challenges of modern emergency management in the state.

Council also emphasised that not less than Seventy Four Primary Health Care centers will be upgraded to provide basic healthcare services to the people

The Executive Council said hence forth the state Government will re-access the Mining Licenses of Miners operating in the state in order to curb illegal mining.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Timothy Ojoma said council has given approval to several agricultural Intervention and also ways of tackling the issue of Farmers and Headers to ensure food sufficiency and security.
