Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has reiterated his administrations commitment to revamp the state Central Medical Store to enhance the wellbeing of the people.
The Governor made this known during the flag off of Medical Equipment, Consumables and Anti Malaria Doses for preventive Chemotherapy for Children in Lokoja.
Alhaji Usman Ododo said the revamping of the State Central Medical Store will ensure proper storage of medical and drugs consumable to enable the state government procure drugs from manufacturer at a subsidized rate.
He noted that his administration will ensure sustainable supply chain management and urged partners to join in achieving the set objectives.
He explained that his administration has sustained an unwavering commitment to ensure quality health delivery system to the people through a holistic effort to quality and affordable health care for all.
The governor enumerated some of his administration’s achievement in the health sector to include enrollment of Civil Servant in the Health Insurance Scheme and the procurement process to upgrade seventy Primary Health Centers across the state to standard among others.
He said attention to maternal Health care is also on top gear saying it is unacceptable for mothers to die during childbirth.
He appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support to maternal health care through revitalizing and well supported health care Development Agency and commended the efforts of all the health Partners for their support in reducing the sufferings of the people.
The governor used the occasion to appreciate the CMD Kogi State Health Management Board, Doctor Ayo Olayemi for saving his mother’s life when she had health challenge in 1997.
The Executive Secretary Kogi State Drugs Management and Medical Supply Agency Pharmacist Salamat Ize in her welcome address said the Agency was established under the administration of the former Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to ensure availability and affordability of quality drugs and medical products for all health institutions in the state.
She appreciated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for consolidating on the achievement of the past administration in the health sector.
He expressed happiness in the flagging off of Distribution of medical equipment and consumables to health facilities in the state and the unveiling of 2024 seasonal malaria Chemo prevention for Children of three months to fifty nine months saying it will go along way to improve the health conditions of children in the state.
In his remark the Commissioner for Health Doctor Abdulazeez Adeiza said the administration of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the people of the state have access to quality and affordable health care services which he described as a welcome development.
He noted that in the last few months thousands of health workers have been trained under the COPRE Project in partnership with the National Disease Control to strengthen the primary health care system across the state.
