Fanwo, who is the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for the centenary celebration, said the historic milestone reflects the community’s rich history, cultural heritage and aspirations for development.

According to him, the three-day event will hold from Wednesday, October 29 to Friday, October 31, 2025, at the UBE School Field, Takete-Ide, Mopamuro LGA, Kogi State, by 10:00 a.m. daily.

Fanwo said the celebration will provide an opportunity to honour the community’s past, celebrate its cultural identity and mobilise support for its future development.

He disclosed that activities lined up for the centenary include youth sensitisation programmes, cultural displays, health education and fundraising for community development projects.

A major highlight of the celebration, he said, will be the unveiling of a book documenting the history of Takete-Ide, aimed at preserving the heritage of the community and passing its traditions and values to future generations.

The programme will also feature an Award Night to honour illustrious sons and daughters of Takete-Ide who have contributed to the development of the community, as well as posthumous awards for past heroes.

Fanwo added that a Praise Night will be held as part of the celebration to thank God for His protection and guidance over the community in the last 100 years.

He said the centenary is expected to bring together indigenes of Takete-Ide at home and in the diaspora, friends of the community, tourists and other well-wishers.

The Chairman of the occasion is the Managing Director of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited, Prof. Abdulsalam Nasir Naeem, while the royal host is the Olude of Takete-Ide, His Royal Highness, Oba Philip Ebilakun.

Fanwo urged sons and daughters of Takete-Ide to use the occasion to strengthen communal bonds and contribute to initiatives that will advance the community’s development.

He also called on corporate organisations, public office holders, development partners and well-meaning Nigerians to identify with the historic celebration and support the community’s development aspirations.

He expressed confidence that the centenary would inspire renewed pride, unity and collective responsibility among the people while preserving the legacy of Takete-Ide for generations to come.
