The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Umar Yusuf has congratulated Muslims in the state and across the globe on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

This is contained in a Press Statement signed and made available to journalists by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed.

According to the statement, the Speaker used the occasion to remind Islamic faithful of the lessons of perseverance, tolerance, compassion, neighbourliness, endurance, charity, generosity and exemplariness demonstrated during the period of Ramadan and urged them not to jettison it after the month of serious worship.

He said the only way Muslims can show that the lessons of the month of Ramadan was not lost on them is for them to continue to strive to be better versions of who they were, noting that it is also among the best ways to move the society, particularly Kogi State, forward.

Alhaji Umar, who further enjoined Muslims not to relent in their prayers for government at all levels, said their supplications would go a long way in ensuring government continues with policies that would make the country better.

He reserved a special praise for the people of Kogi State for their prayers and support for the state government, stressing that despite many challenges, the state has continued to get it right and steering the people in the right direction.

The Speaker enjoined celebrants to do it in moderation and avoid anything that would jeopardize their lives and the lives of other citizens.

“Everybody that is celebrating, especially our youths and children, must ensure they do it within the limits of the law and without endangering the lives of others. They should be cautious of the things they do and where they go to avoid any form of tragedy while celebrating,” he chipped in.

The Speaker enjoined parents and guardians to prevail on their wards to ensure they do not go overboard in the name of celebration and wished everyone a memorable Eid – El – Fitr.
