Egbeda Egga Day 2024: Gov. Ododo Promises Infrastructure Development As Community Begs for Govt Attention

Kogi State Government has expressed its readiness to provide infrastructure development in Egbeda Egga, Ijumu Local Government Area.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo made the promise at this year’s Egbeda Egga Day at the weekend.

The annual Egbeda Egga Cultural Day is an opportunity to gather sons, daughters and friends of the Community to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and gather resources for Community development.

Governor Ododo in a message to the occasion praised the people of the Community for living in peace and harmony and for sustaining their rich cultural heritage.

Represented by the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), the Governor said his administration will continue to invest in agriculture, stressing the need to include agriculture in the promotion of culture.

The Governor assured that the community will soon feel the impact of governance with a promise to provide a Transformer and renovate dilapidated schools in the Community.

He appealed to the people of Egbeda Egga to assist security agencies with Information that will help nip crime and criminality in the bud.

Chairman of the Occasion, Barrister Femi Mokikan and member representing Ijumu Constituency, Princess Omotayo Adeleye-Ishaya described Culture as an effective tool for promoting unity, urging the Community to sustain the tempo.

An Elder Statesman, Chief Abiodun Ojo in his remarks expressed optimism that Governor Ododo will end the lack of Government presence in the Community, urging the people to support him.

While the Obaro of Egbeda Egga, Oba Noah Obademi, expressed delight that the annual event is getting better, the President of Egbeda Egga Development Union, Dr. Emmanuel Otitolaiye and Mr. Joseph Aiyejoto, Chairman Publicity Sub Committee are of the opinion that the programme has yielded a lot of dividends.

The programme featured cultural displays like Igbaafun and Are Iyawo, a celebration that displays how the Community Celebrates wedding ceremony and performances by Ace Okun Gospel Singer, Emma Toba.
