CUSTECH Attack: Governor Ododo Visits Varsity, Assures Speedy Rescue of Abducted Students

Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has assured that security agencies are making frantic efforts to rescue abducted students of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara.

He also promised to review ongoing security operations within and around the institution to ensure the speedy rescue of abducted students.

Ododo, who was away when the incident occurred and on his return to the state immediately visited the university to assess the situation and receive briefs from the school management to enable them collectively strengthen the security architecture in the university.

Speaking with newsmen, Governor Ododo revealed that preliminary report suspects internal sabotage due to the disconnection of the CCTV cameras within the premises shortly before the attack. He however assured that those behind the ugly incident will be brought to book.

“We cannot rule out internal sabotage in this operation because the school is fully equipped with CCTV cameras, how come they could not capture the attack when it happened?

“What is most important to us right now is the rescue of the abducted students and we will not rest until this is achieved as soon as possible.

“I must commend all the security agencies including the local vigilante and hunters groups for the progress made so far,” he added.

The governor urged citizens to volunteer credible information that can assist security agencies in their investigations. He assured that government will continue to strengthen security across school communities to make it safest for the students to go about carrying out their academic activities without fear of attack.
