Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has been commended
for signing into law the bill that converts the Reference Hospital, Okene, into the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Teaching Hospital.
Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Stephen Shuaibu Babatunde made the commendation in a statement in Okene.
Dr. Stephen, who described the signing of the bill as a welcomed development, noted that it would enhance healthcare delivery, ensure the training of more medical professionals and as well help in addressing the shortage of medical personnel in the country.
According to the CMD, “The news of the signing of the bill into law did not come as a surprise in view of the unwavering commitment of the present administration to provide accessible, top notch healthcare services to the people of Kogi State and contribute its quota to reducing brain drain in the country”.
He maintained that Government has shown great interest in the well being of the citizens by making adequate provision for quality healthcare and creating abundant opportunity for students of Kogi State origin desiring to pursue a career in medicine.
The CMD expressed optimism that with the conversion, a new lease of life has been injected into the services offered by the hospital for improved healthcare delivery and enhance the state’s capacity to train skilled medical professionals.
While praying God to grant the Governor more wisdom in piloting the affairs of the state, Dr. Stephen pledged the continued loyalty and support of the management and staff of the CUSTECH Teaching Hospital to the present administration.
