The Kogi Half Marathon is aimed at promoting youth development, healthy living, sports excellence, and tourism, while showcasing Lokoja as a hub for sporting and recreational activities.
Speaking in his office on the preparation so far in Lokoja, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for creating an enabling environment for youth and sports development.
Hon Aridaojo Monday Anyebe, said the Marathon aligns with the administration’s commitment to empowering young people through sports, fostering unity, and positioning Kogi State as a destination for national and international sporting events.
The Commissioner called on corporate organizations, development partners, sports bodies and enthusiasts, and the public to support and participate in this historic event.
Hon Aridaojo Monday Anyebe expressed optimism that the government will continue to deliver on its promises, citing the administration’s excellent record in youth and sports development, infrastructure, and human capital development as heart warming.
Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe assured that proper medical check and traffic and other necessary measures will be put in place to forestall traffic hold for the event
He said necessary arrangements are being put in place to ensure a successful event to mark the Governor’s second year in office.
According to the Commissioner, registration has begun, urging the people to visit
for registration, cash prizes for outstanding performance and other details.
He said the Half Marathon, will begin from Felele bus stop at 7am, to Crusher, through Zone eight roundabout down to Paparanda Square and terminate at Muhammadu Buhari Square.
