APC Targets Victory In Osun Gov poll, Urges Campaign Council To Submit Work Plans Immediately

The All Progressives Congress has intensified preparations for the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, with a charge to members of its National Campaign Council to deliver victory for its candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.

The directive was given on Monday at the inaugural meeting of the council in Abuja.

Chairman of the council and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, said the meeting was convened to activate the party’s campaign machinery and not for social events.

Uzodimma, who addressed members of the council, said the sole objective of the party was to win the election.

He said, “The plan is to go and support our brothers and sisters in Osun State to win the forthcoming election. This meeting is not for merrymaking or jamboree. It is for people to come and offer service.

“We have only one mission – to win the election. Everything else can come after the election.”

The governor directed all sub-committees of the council to meet immediately and submit their work plans to the National Secretary of the council on or before Thursday.

He also mandated the finance sub-committee to coordinate voluntary contributions from members and supporters of the party.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, the Deputy President of the Senate and Secretary of the Campaign Council, Barau Jibrin, described the session as productive, adding that it underscored the party’s resolve to reclaim the state.

Barau said the meeting, which was held at the Kano State Governor’s Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja, was attended by members of the council and its various sub-committees.

He expressed optimism that the party would win the poll, citing what he described as growing support for its candidate across the 30 local government areas of the state.

He said, “With the overwhelming support of the good people of Osun State across all 30 local government areas, we are confident that, by the grace of God, our candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, will emerge victorious in the governorship election scheduled for August 15 by the Independent National Electoral Commission.”

He thanked residents of the state for their support for the party.

The meeting marks the formal commencement of activities by the APC National Campaign Council ahead of the governorship election.
