The All Progressives Congress (APC) has appointed six Governors, including Governor Hope Uzodima of Imo State as the coordinating Governor of south East zone to spearhead party activities across the country’s geopolitical zones.
Others include; North Central: Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, North East: Yobe State Governor- Mai Mala Buni, North West: Kaduna State Governor,-Uba Sani, South West: Lagos State Governor- Babajide Sanwo-Olu andSouth South: Cross River State Governor -Bassey Otu.
Addressing the Zonal Coordinators at the party’s Secretariat on Wednesday in Abuja, during the inauguration. APC National Chairman Abdulahi Ganduje, said they are been asked with specific responsibilities, including facilitating communication between governors and party leadership and promoting reconciliation among party members among others.
“We are here to mobilize the demand of the people, we have to mobilize what the people like, to form an agenda for the party and for the government and also we have to disseminate information on what the government is doing down to the people.”
“So in order to do that we have narrowed down our activities to geopolitical zones.
“In all this, there must be a Governor that will oversee, that will motivate, encourage all within that zone, that is the only way that we can move forward quickly.”
Responding on behalf of the coordinators, Governor Hope Uzodima who is also the Chairman, Progressive Governor’s Forum assured that the APC Governors appointed as coordinators would work tirelessly to ensure the effectiveness and inclusivity of government programs, strengthen the party’s reward system, and promote all-round progress within the party and government.
“We will do our best as the progressive governor’s forum, support the govt, make sure that govt is functional and effective, to encourage all inclusive programe of govt and to strengthen the reward system of the party in govt”
He congratulated all the appointed Governors and appreciated the members of the National Working Committee of the party on how they have handled the affairs of the party so far.
