An Elder statesman, Dr. Williams Toyin Akanle says poverty has reduced in Kogi State in the last one year in office of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Dr. Akanle in a Chat with Newsmen said contrary to the belief of people, the Governor has proven the nay sayers wrong with his impactful and human face programmes and Policies.
According to him, the significant improvement in the welfare of workers both at the State and Local Government levels with one hundred percent salaries across the board has reduced the impact of the present economic hardship on the people.
He commended Governor Ododo for paying Bursary Allowance, WAEC fees and ensuring up-to-date accreditation of courses in all State owned tertiary institutions.
Dr. Akanle noted that the introduction of health insurance for workers, several free medical health treatments and revitalisation of over one hundred and fifty Primary Health Care Centres as well as establishment of College of Health Sciences at Confluence University are steps in the right direction for the health sector.
The Elder statesman, described the completed and ongoing massive road projects at the Local Government levels and Lokoja, the State Capital particularly, Zone eight roundabout-Crusher and Zango-Barracks-Zone Eight Round about roads as a step in the right direction.
In the Agriculture Sector, Dr. Akanle applauded the investment of billions of Naira in the Sector which he noted has made farming a lucrative business.
He stated that the ongoing work for the construction of ultramodern Lokoja International Market is commendable, describing Ododo as a visionary Leader, who came well prepared for the governance of the State.
The Elder Statesman enjoined the Governor to sustain the current momentum of providing good governance that will stand the test of time and attract more investors to Kogi State.
