Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo on Wednesday Inaugurated an edifice for the quick response unit of the State Command of Nigeria Police.
The Governor while inaugurating the edifice vowed not to play politics with security of lives and property of the people.
The Launch of the unit is another security architect put in place by the State to nip crime and criminality in bud.
Governor Ododo in his address at the occasion paid glowing tribute to his Predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for the confidence reposed in him to lead the State, saying President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also played the significant role in the safety of the State.
The Governor explained that his administration is already winning the war against insecurity especially the rescue of the Students of Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara, who were kidnapped recently.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to defeating crimes and criminality, assuring support to Security Agencies.
Governor Ododo urged the people of the State to continue to support security agencies to fight crimes and report strange people.
On his part, Kogi State Security Adviser, Retired Commander Jerry Omodara said the edifice started more than three months ago, noting that the speedy completion demonstrates the fact that the Governor is committed to security the State.
According to him, the Commissioning of the Unit is coming months after the launch of Metropolitan Quick Response, recruitment of over one thousand hunters and provision of the same with gadgets.
Commander Omodara said seventy five percent of crimes are committed by youths and commended the gesture of the Governor in engaging youths meaningfully.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, Bernard Onoha said the edifice will motivate the officers in the ongoing onslaught against criminal elements.
The Commissioner, who was delighted with the development, solicited for more support of the State government in the task of protecting lives and property.
He charged the officers and men of the Command do do their best in carrying out their duty in line with international best practices.
