Nigeria and China Strengthen Ties Through Cultural Exchange – Otunba Ajiboye

The Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation (NICO), Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, has advocated for a deeper cultural exchange between China and Nigeria to foster mutual understanding and strengthening their bond.

Otunba Ajiboye who made this known while Speaking at a seminar co hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, at Abuja, emphasised on the importance of cultural exchange and cooperation between Nigeria and China through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).


According to him, “we align with your success and sincerely wish to have a cooperation that can be mutually beneficial to both nations,” Ajiboye said. “The BRI offers a remarkable opportunity for us to strengthen our friendship and cultural ties.”

He noted that cultural exchange is a powerful tool that can bridge gaps, foster mutual understanding, and create lasting bonds between peoples and nations.

Ajiboye highlighted Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and its potential to attract foreign investment and promote economic development.

The seminar, co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, the China Alumni Association, and the University of Abuja, aimed to promote culture and tourism exchange between Nigeria and China under the framework of the BRI.

Experts at the event called for more collaboration and emphasized the importance of cultural exchange in promoting mutual understanding and cooperation.

The head of department, political science, University of Abuja, Professor Sherrif Ghali Ibrahim noted, the BRI is a “concerted effort” to create “an international community of a shared future for humanity.”

The initiative has already benefited Nigeria significantly, with China providing funds for various infrastructure projects in the country.
