Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has warned against drug abuse in the state.
The Governor gave the warning in a message to commemorate the World Drug Day organized by Kogi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in conjunction with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Kogi State Command at the Prince Abubakar Audu University Auditorium, Anyigba.
Governor Ododo, who was represented by the Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Monday Anyebe said the day was set aside to create awareness on the devastating effects of drug abuse and to also educate the society on its prevention.
He said his administration will be committed to the sensitization on the harmful effects of killer habit by the younger generation in the society.
According to the Governor, drug abuse is a serious problem in the society and advised families, communities and society to kick against drug abuse.
Present at the event include the Transition Committee Chairman of Igalamela-Odolu Local Government Area, Barrister Comas Atabo, Senior Special Assistant on Students Affairs, Isah Emmanuel, the Director Youth of the Ministry, Mallam Abubakar Abdullah, Senior Special Assistant on War Against Drug Trafficking, Mustapha Abu among others.
