The All Progressives Congress APC has cleared the incumbent Governor of Ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa during the screening excercise at the party secretariat on Friday in Abuja
Governor Aiyedatiwa while speaking with Newsmen shortly after his screening, declared that there was no vacancy at the government house for any other aspirant as he has the structures to win the race come 20th of this month and beyond.
He said, I have been cleared that there are no issues, especially the issue that has to do with the certificate that a petition was written, today that has been put to rest.
“I should just advice them to repent and try to go to the field and work. If they are interested in the seat. The seat is not vacant; that is why they’re trying to do all that they are doing” the governor added.
Also speaking with Newsmen after his screening, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim who was told to take a bow as a serving senatore of the Federal Republic of Nigeria reacted to Aiyedatiwa statement of no vacancy, saying it was a huge joke.
Reacting to the Governor’s statement on “no vacancy” in ondo state govt house, Olusola Oke, said the Governor’s declaration was just a mere “statement of wish and desire”.
It’s a statement of wish and desire by the governor and it’s a statement that is intended to undermine a democratic exercise.
“If we are going to primaries and the people will have to determine, how would anybody have the guts to say there is no vacancy?”
“I don’t intend to take over from him before the expiration of his one year in office. So, the essence of this exercise is that there will be a vacancy after one one-year term and that he or somebody else will occupy the seat. Having regard to my wide contact with the people, I believe that I’m succeeding him.”
Olusoji Ehinlanwo said that he represent the best material to take Ondo State to incredible height and the best material for APC, adding that he is the aspirant for the masses and youths of Ondo state.
On his part, Olugbenga Edema, promised to boost the productivity of the state, and to cater for 5 million people when he become the governor of Ondo State.
“Therefore, when I become the governor of Ondo State, I want to cater for 5 million people at first. And I know that by the time we create the environment that is very, very conducive because of what I’m going to tell you in the next minute. There is going to be an exponential increase in the population of Ondo State. And that means we have to cater for an additional 2 million or 3 million people within the space of four , five, eight years.”
A total of 16 aspirant that purchased the party’s nomination and expression of interest forms were screened and cleared by the party.
