Management of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), has been assured of unflinching support in the establishment of its College of Medicine.
Chief Medical Director of the Reference Hospital Okene, Prof Solomon Avidime, gave the assurance when the Vice Chancellor led members of management on a visit to the hospital in Okene.
Prof. Avidime, who expressed delight at the opportunity to offer training service to medical students of the university, said the Reference Hospital was already rendering such services to students of the College of Nursing and Midwifery Obangede.
While acknowledging the statutory requirements for the opening of a College of medicine, the CMD stated that the medical facility has the required departments to serve as a teaching hospital for the University, saying it was fully ready to assist medical students from the institution.
He noted that CUSTECH, as en educational institution, was developing manpower and maintained that the Reference Hospital has the personnel and professionals that can assist in achieving that dream.
Prof. Avidime also added through the synergy, medical doctors from the hospital will be privileged to serve as visiting lecturers at the university.
Earlier, Vice Chancellor of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Prof. Abdulrahman Salawu, said the visit was aimed at notifying the hospital of the visit by the National Universities Commission (NUC) in view of its proposal to offer medical programs.
Prof. Salawu called for support from the staff and management of the hospital to ensure the success of the resource verification as the team will visit some departments in the hospital.
The CMD afterwards led the Vice Chancellor and his management team on a facility tour of the hospital, with the Vice Chancellor expressing deep appreciation to Kogi State government for establishing the hospital and equipping it with state of the art equipment.
