Ododo Approves Renovation of Obaro of Kabba Palace

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has approved the renovation of the palace of the Obaro of Kabba to give it a befitting and modern outlook.

Governor Ododo gave the approval when he received the Kabba Community Council of Chiefs from the Owe Kingdom in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area at the Government House, Lokoja.

The Governor, who commended the traditional rulers and people of Kabba for their support for his administration, directed the relevant authorities to liaise with the royal institution and work out modalities for the renovation of the palace.

He also directed that attention be given to the road leading to the palace to improve accessibility and create a conducive environment for traditional and community activities.

Governor Ododo further promised to consider the creation of additional commissioner positions for the people of Kabba, noting that the community deserved greater representation in government in view of what he described as its support for the administration.

He appreciated the traditional rulers and other stakeholders for coming out in their numbers to express their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the people of Kabba had continued to identify with the programmes and policies of the administration.

The Governor also commended the Chairman of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area for his support and collaboration with the state government in its efforts to address insecurity in the area.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Chairman of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, Zacheus Dare, described the visit as historic, saying it marked the first time in more than two decades that the Council of Chiefs representing the fourteen families in Owe Kabba Kingdom had gathered at one location to make a collective declaration.

Dare said the traditional rulers came to appreciate Governor Ododo for what they described as the impact of his administration on the people of Kabba-Bunu and to reaffirm their support for his administration.

He said, “This is the Kabba Community Council of Chiefs. The significance of today is that, in recent times, over more than two decades, this is the first time the Council of Chiefs in Owe Kabba Kingdom, across all the fourteen families, are present in one location to unanimously declare their support for the leadership of the people’s Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.”

He added that the development initiatives had motivated the traditional rulers and other stakeholders to visit the Government House to express appreciation and reiterate their position on the political direction of the community.

Also speaking, spokesperson for the Kabba Traditional Council, High Chief Alegbemi Michael, appreciated Governor Ododo for granting the traditional rulers the opportunity to meet with him.

High Chief Alegbemi called for continued collaboration between the government and traditional institutions to promote peace, security and development in Kabba-Bunu and Kogi State as a whole.
