Chairman of Kogi Local Government, Musa Abdulmalik, says the council remains peaceful and solidly behind President Bola Tinubu and Governor Usman Ododo ahead of the next general elections.
Abdulmalik spoke on Monday when he received the Workplace Security Campaign team led by the Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Onuh Edoka, at the council secretariat.
He described the sensitisation as apt and result-oriented, noting that the governor’s performance speaks for itself.
“One good term deserves another,” he said.
The council chairman commended the special adviser and his team for the statewide campaign and thanked the governor for approving the programme.
He said, “This visit is the first of its kind. Looking at the calibre of former and present labour leaders who are committed to the growth of the state, I can see strong support for Governor Ododo. I am indeed grateful. There is no doubt that Kogi Local Government is one united family and stands firmly with Ododo and President Tinubu.”
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees in the area, Yakubu Mohammed, lauded Ododo for his welfare programmes for workers.
Mohammed, who passed a vote of confidence in the governor, said workers in the council were fully behind the re-election of Ododo and Tinubu. He also commended the governor for appointing Edoka as special adviser and other former labour leaders into various positions.
In his remarks, the Kogi State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Gabriel Amari, urged workers not to be deceived by desperate politicians, stressing that Ododo had done enough to justify his re-election, particularly in terms of workers’ welfare.
Earlier, Edoka, who gave tips on workplace security, advised workers to always disclose their movements to colleagues and avoid enmity with neighbours.
He urged them to reflect on the past and present to make decisions that would secure their future, adding that job security was key.
Edoka thanked the council chairman for his humility and for personally receiving the team, assuring him of the continued support of workers.
