The Scout Leader of the 1st Crowther Memorial College Scout Troop, Mamman Nda Eri, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Scout Association of Nigeria to raising disciplined, responsible and self-reliant youths for national development.
Eri stated this during a courtesy visit by members of the troop to the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, Naziru Kankarofi, at the command headquarters in Lokoja, on Monday.
He thanked the commissioner for receiving the troop, describing the visit as a source of inspiration to the young scouts.
Eri said the Scout Movement remains committed to building youths with integrity, patriotism, leadership qualities and a strong spirit of community service through camping, skills acquisition and character development.
In his remarks, CP Naziru Kankarofi commended the Scout Movement for its enduring role in moulding responsible citizens and promoting positive values among young people.
He described camping as an important aspect of scouting that builds resilience, teamwork, leadership and survival skills.
The police commissioner urged the scouts to embrace discipline, honesty, obedience and self-reliance, noting that the virtues are essential for every youth aspiring to be productive.
He also encouraged them to remain worthy ambassadors of their schools, communities and the nation.
Also speaking, a National Trainer and Scouter Per Excellence, Abdulazeez Osori, charged the scouts to remain faithful to the Scout Promise and Law, saying discipline and responsibility are the foundation of effective leadership and good citizenship.
Osori urged them to distinguish themselves through exemplary conduct and positive influence wherever they find themselves.
The delegation included the Lion Patrol Leader, Joy Ernest, and the Tiger Patrol Leader, Paul Blessing.
The visit ended with a renewed pledge by the scouts to continue to develop practical life skills through scouting activities while promoting discipline, service and self-reliance.
