The Edo State Executive Council has approved a revised supplementary budget of N799.820 billion for the 2025 fiscal year, up from the initial N675.220 billion, an increase of about N125 billion, representing 18 percent.

The approval came after an emergency executive meeting held on Monday, September 29, 2025, presided over by the Governor and Chairman-in-Council, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Finance, Emmanuel Okoebor, said the adjustment reflects the government’s strong commitment to infrastructure.

“Previously, we had a budget of N675 billion, with 33 percent for recurrent expenditure and 67 percent for capital. Under the revised plan, capital now accounts for 70 percent while recurrent takes 30 percent. This demonstrates Governor Okpebholo’s priority on infrastructure delivery,” he explained.

Okoebor noted that the additional N125 billion allocation includes about N113 billion for capital expenditure, marking a 25 per cent increase, while recurrent rose by about N12 billion, representing a 5 percent rise.

He added that the recurrent adjustment was driven mainly by the new minimum wage and fresh employment in critical sectors such as the Hospital Management Board, which recently absorbed over 1,000 staff.

“Government has already delivered 254km of roads across the state, and many more projects are ongoing,” he stated.

The Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paul Ohombamu, said the revised budget would be transmitted to the Edo State House of Assembly for legislative approval.
